Wildlife Management
Wildlife Management Plans
Wildlife management plans guide Alberta’s conservation and management activities. Sustainable Resource Development’s Fish
and Wildlife Division develops, reviews and updates these plans for several species of game animals that live in the province.
These plans outline:
- biology of each species
- historic population changes for each species
- status, use and management at the time the report was written
- management strategies on how to implement the plans in each region of the province where the species occurs
Regional wildlife biologists use the plans to develop their specific strategies for their regions, which may include population
inventories and the establishment of hunting regimes.
