Report A Poacher
1-800-642-3800 or #3800 if calling from a TELUS cell phone
Albertans can assist in the protection of fish and wildlife resources through the Report a Poacher program. If you see or
suspect any illegal activity related to fish or wildlife, call the number above. The Report a Poacher line is available
24 hours a day and is toll-free across North America.
Callers providing information that leads to charges being laid may qualify for a reward. Callers can remain anonymous and
still qualify for a reward. Any personal information you give is kept strictly confidential.
Any information you can provide Report a Poacher about a suspected violation is valuable. If possible, collect the following
details:
- Date, time and location of the event
- Licence plate number of the vehicle involved
- Any distinguishing details about the vehicle such as:
- Make
- Model
- Colour
- Dents
- Stickers
- Any additional details
- Description of the people involved
- Details about the violation
The Report a Poacher line can also be used to provide after-hours service in emergencies involving wildlife, such as a bear
mauling.
If you’re having a problem with an animal and it's not an emergency, please call your nearest Fish and Wildlife Office during
regular business hours.
The program is operated in partnership with the Alberta Conservation Association. The reward payments are funded by the
association. The management of the information and investigations are delivered by Fish and Wildlife officers.
