Biodiversity refers to the variety of life at the ecosystem, species and genetic
levels.
It contributes to ecological processes that sustain all life, giving us diverse
forests, productive soils and beautiful landscapes. Looking after and caring for
biodiversity is essential to the ongoing prosperity of Albertans. The future of
Alberta’s biodiversity will ultimately be determined by the choices that we make.
Stewardship is the process of moving our awareness into action. Once we have the
awareness of how to best care for our land, air, water, and biodiversity, we can
put that into action by making choices on how to best use and manage these resources
for today and future generations.
