SRD Website Update

Alberta Sustainable Resource Development’s (SRD) website has been updated and re-organized. If you’ve had a chance to use it, then you’re already aware of some of the major shifts in how content is being presented on srd.alberta.ca.

Horizontal navigation / subject tabs have changed!

The architecture of the website has changed considerably. This is one of the biggest differences you’ll see on the new website, and one that will take a bit of getting used to. So, why the change?

In essence, this change came about to address a more integrated approach to SRD web content based on:

  • User focus group results revealed a strong need to make information easier to find
  • An initiative within SRD to better coordinate the work of its various divisions and business areas

Content updates

Old web content has either been moved under a different subject heading, consolidated or eliminated altogether as Web Services has worked with various business areas to reduce duplication of web materials and do away with outdated content.

There’s a mix of old and new content on the website. How come?

All content on the website has been reviewed to ensure that it currently pertains to the business of the department. Approximately one-third of the content has been completely reviewed, rewritten, revamped and web edited. As the review process can take some time to accomplish, the remainder of the content was moved 'as is' to get the new site underway as soon as possible. SRD will continue to work to update and maintain the site.

What if I can’t find what I’m looking for?

SRD is aware that many users have bookmarked pages that they visit frequently. Because of the new site structure these links will not work, however, there are few ways users can seek out the information they are looking for:

  • Explore the new site! Start by surfing from our homepage:

  • Search the site using our new Google Search Appliance site search engine:

  • Use our site map:

  • Ask for further assistance:

An option to complete a form and ask for assistance will appear when old web pages/links generate error messages. SRD will attempt to respond to all requests within three business days.
